This update driver for the SM56 under W2K pro works, make sure the orig is installed i.e. with the supplied drivers for 2000, then extract this exe into a directory i.e. sm56upd, then go to hardware profiles and locate the SM56 modem and then use the update driver wizard to update the driver install files. It is of use to have another modem installed as well it dosn't have to exist, i.e. standard modem on COM2. After update completes reset the computer. The modem should now work, the problem I was having W2K pro couldn't open the port i.e. com4/5. Good Luck
